Laura Balson is a partner at the Chicago law firm of Golan Christie Taglia LLP where she practices in the areas of employment law and commercial litigation. Laura represents both employers and individual executives and entrepreneurs and has tried cases in state and federal courts. She frequently analyzes and negotiates employment and separation agreements for her clients and speaks on a wide variety of employment law topics.
Laura has been named a Rising Star by Illinois Super Lawyer Magazine every year since 2010 and has also been recognized as an Emerging Lawyer by Leading Lawyers, which is a distinction given to less than 2% of all lawyers licensed in Illinois. Laura is a powerful advocate for women’s rights generally and for pay equity specifically. She is co-chair of a coalition of women’s groups who put on the annual Equal Pay Day event at Daley Center Plaza in downtown Chicago. The event aims to raise awareness of the wage gap. At the 2014 event, Laura was interviewed and appeared in a featured segment of the national broadcast of the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley.
