Why WE WILL?  What matters to you in the Community?

Considering the building societal unrest that we are plagued with in the US in the present times, I grew weary of simply discussing my opinions and views and being utterly devasted at the state of our nation. I wanted to act, to do something that could make a difference. I have known Alexandria Eidenberg, the founder of WE WILL, since our high school days at Lane Tech and joining this group of amazingly vocal and empowered women seemed like the most natural way to jump right in and immediately start making a difference.  As a second-generation Latina, I am extremely passionate about equity for Latinx people, immigration reform, equal access to education and all things associated with women’s rights.

Who are you professionally?

I am an entrepreneur, owner of the Levi Group, LLC., which was founded with the purpose of providing affordable consulting services to individuals, small business owners and aspiring property owners in underprivileged and underserviced communities. Levi Group provides an avenue for the average person to have access to educational resources to better manage everyday life through financial literacy, language interpretation services business management. I am also a Human Resources professional, Certified Trainer and Operations Director who works with organizations to build their organizational structure keeping them defensible and compliant with federal, state and local laws.

Tell us more about your personal life?

I am a lover of God, and a lover of people. I have many titles, but two of my ultimate favorites are wife and mother. I am a wife to the amazing Rafael Peña who I lovingly refer to as Batman, because he is my real-life superhero. I am a mother to three beautiful children, our eldest son Jelani, our princess Jelise and our youngest son Jeliel.  On our free time we enjoy hiking, exploring and engaging in every activity designed for the great outdoors.

A fun fact about me is I am an ordained minister and I pastor in a predominately Spanish-speaking congregation located on the north-side of the City of Chicago. I am also a lover of music and direct the choir as a lead vocalist.
